tribute by stewart mcmurryMarvin and I knew each other from church nursery. His dad was my choir director at Boston Avenue from age 3 to 15. Marv moved to Lakewood Ave. just before 7th grade and we rode bikes to Byrd in 8th and 9th grades. Brooks Lindsey lived across from the Reechers and that's how I got to know Brooks. Marv did not play football until high school and I was proud that one of my church buddies made the team. We played Turkey Bowl at Byrd every year until after Marvin's passing. One year, he got in a big fight with my brother in law who liked to hit playing football but diid not like to get hit. I thought it was funny because Marvin had been beating me up for over 10 years! In Jr. High, Marvin had Steppenwolf and other good music I never owned. He did not have a mean bone in his body, a big teddy bear. Lost him way too early. Think of his Mom every July 24, Marvin's birthday. Loved his entire family and everyone who loved them. Wish he could have met my kids. Hope they will meet him some day in Heaven.
