Jane Duca (Adair)

Bryan April - April 12th, 2010
It was a Friday night in the spring of 1970 near the end of 7th grade.  Rob Berry and I made the walk from our houses to Nimitz and across Joe Creek to Jane's party.  Some how Rob and I managed to locate a 6 pack of beer and we were ready to enter the real world of women, rock and roll, and trouble if we weren't careful.  You could hear the party 2 blocks before we actually saw the house.  And it was there that I saw one of the most beautiful girls in our school; Lisa Shae.  That was the good news.  The bad news was she was interested in me joining her in Jane's garage for a game of spin the bottle with a number of other couples.  I lost track of Rob as I was more worried about kissing her than anything else.  It all turned out to be fine as it marked my first extended kiss and I was on cloud nine.  Rob eventually turned up and by then, it was time to walk home.  While that party was a long time ago I still think of it from time to time, and the girl that hosted it.

laurey lummus - March 27th, 2010
Thank you Sheridan Riley, for keeping Sharon in your thoughts. You words were a blessing.

laurey lummus - March 26th, 2010
I am very protective of Sharon's memory so this entry is to clear up a few previous statements. I am sure they may not be important to anyone but me, but she was my dearest friend. We were working at the Westside YMCA as lifeguards and were hit by a drunk driver on our day off - July, 1974. We had so much fun that day, like always. We used to pull over in her VW whenever we heard a song we loved and get out and dance! She was not going into pre-med, but she would have gotten a laugh out of that. We both loathed Memorial and were quite relieved when our sentence was up. I do appreciate John Laley and the guys for putting up this memorial page. Benny, I miss you every day and I know I will see you again some day. You were the most wonderful friend anyone could have ever had.

Sheridan Riley-Carolla - March 4th, 2010
I presented two articles, one obituary, and one feature story, to the reunion committee at our 35th.  All about Sharon, who died in an auto accident right after we graduated.  She was working as a lifegurard at the Y (Southside) that summer and she and Laurie Lummus were just taking a break to the lake that turned tragic.  Sharon was going to enter pre-med in the Fall of 1974.  Her birthday was in August and I think about her every summer.  I also have some E'clat group photos framed in my office and Sharon is in the 1972 and 1973 photos.
Bryan April - February 17th, 2010
It has been many years since Sharon passed away.  My memory may be wrong but I believe she passed away in an auto accident before entering Memorial.  I can still see her smiling face as if it were only yesterday.  She was a cheerful person and a friend to many of us.  There are people and moments we experience in life that from time to time come to mind.  Over the years since she left us I have remembered her for no particular reason other than she was one of us.  She is not forgotten and lives on with many of us.  To her family please know she had a positive impact with people.

Phil Bray

Birth Date: 1956-04-17
Deceased Date: 1995-04-12
Obituary:
Bill Vaananen - March 19th, 2014
Phil's family was connected with the Tulsa Metropolitan Opera.  During high school, Phil came up to some of us with the idea of taking small "supernumerary"roles onstage in the upcoming Tulsa Opera production of "Carmen."  For one week, Phil, David Wells, Neil Stauffer, and I attended rehearsals at the majestic Old Lady on Brady.  We ran around backstage, wore goofy costumes, staged sword fights in the make-up rooms, made fun of the director and the diva, goofed off, and, yes, appeared onstage during some of the biggest moments of the world's most famous opera.  I even got to walked across the stage in a matador costume while the chorus and orchestra sang "The Toreador Song:" a really powerful experience!  I didn't realize it at the time, but this was one of the first times I had watched and listened to an orchestra up close, watched set pieces as they moved on and off the stage, and listened to powerful choruses with voices blended in gorgeous harmonies.  This was in the middle of my Yes, EL&P, Genesis years, so something bombastic and outrageous like a performance of Carmen wasn't too far off the mark for someone who enjoyed "spectacle."  Before that, I had no idea that I had a future in music and theater.  But, come to think of it, this experience might have been the very beginning - the opening of an entire new universe of sights and sounds for the senses.  So, I have Phil Bray to thank for that.  I didn't know Phil well, but I'm sure the Carmen experience is something all of us who took part will never forget.
Martha kemm Landes - February 17th, 2010
Gosh, Phil was one of the gang from Marshall.  I know he's been gone a while, but I can remember his face just like it was yesterday.
Sheri O'Hara - February 17th, 2010
Went to school with Phil forever.  He was one of the nicest guys I have ever met.  Great personality, wonderful smile.  Really missed telling him these things at the recent reunion.   Makes me realize the importance of telling people how you feel about them, even if you only know them in the context of school, work, etc.

Becky Terrell - March 28th, 2014
I did not graduate in Class of '74...but thought I could share anyway...
Betsy was my big sis (Anne Terrell's) high school buddy...Betsy was always teasing me...thought I'd share one of those times for a memory of Betsy's humor...
Like most young teenage girls, there were certain things I was embarrassed to buy at the big stores with the cute "sackers" (Skaggs-Albertson's or Sipes)... so I decided to privately stock up on my "monthly girl stuff" at Verle Smith's drug store (61st & Yale).  The LAST time I did that Betsy was working as the cashier and SCREAMED across the store... "HEY BECKY! YOU EXPECTING A FLOOD!!??"
Verle Smith's lost my business, but I'm sure they had fun working with Betsy.
She's probably got them cracking up in Heaven while she hot rods around in her dad's muscle cars.
They''ll miss you tonight Betsy, esp Annie
...love, becky t. (Class of '76)
Anne Terrell - February 24th, 2010
Besty passed away October 23, 1992.  She was married only 6 weeks.  At that time, she was the Dist. Mgr. for Carter's Infant Wear and her home ofc was the Stroud Outlet Mall.  She was headed toward Stroud when a pickup truck lost a tire and veered head on into her car.  I first knew Betsy at Nimitz the first day of 7th grade after her family had just moved here from Yukon.   As it turned out, her family lived one block away from my family.  We didn't become close friends until Sophomore year at Memorial.  We spent many, many hours criusing always in a new car.  Betsy was so much fun and so funny!  I will hear music from "our time" and it throws me back to our cruising days.   I miss her so much and think of her often.

Judy Owen (Worthley) - February 24th, 2010
I was one of Betsy's good friends in high school.  Betsy was always so much fun.  There were several of us that would  "cruise" in one of her cars.  Her dad was in car sales and Betsy always had a fun car for us to drive around in.  It seems to me that she went on to manage a store in Woodland Hills Mall?  I believe I heard of her passing at the 10th? reunion.  She is greatly missed and a dear friend to all of us.

Dub Cross

Deceased Date: 2013-01-17
Obituary:
Dub Cross (Norman C. Cross, III) passed away suddenly on January 17, 2013 at the age of 56. A fitting tribute to Dub cannot be written by a single person or contained on a single page. There were so many facets to Dub’s life and so many people that counted him as a friend that the whole story could only be told with the culmination of stories by literally hundreds of friends and family members. Throughout his life Dub was one of kind! He earned an Engineering degree from OSU while spending most of his years in Stillwater establishing the beginnings of the Red Dirt music phenomenon with his band The Cimarron Swingsters . Dub worked as a construction engineer with Manhattan Construction until the early 1990s when he left the corporate world to begin a life that was fully his own – on his own terms, at his own pace and in his own way. Dub started Black Diamond Trading Company to buy, trade, and repair motorcycles. There was no charge for creating and telling stories at Black Diamond. Dub was a singer and songwriter, newspaper columnist, Ham radio operator, gardener, chef extraordinaire, and Facebook personality with friends across the globe. Dub was as big as the life he lived. He is survived by his wife Judy Walker, Tulsa sisters Kitty Baehler and Sally Reynolds, Sally’s husband Lou Reynolds and their children Boone and Abbey. He was preceded in death by his first wife Cheryl, nephew Cole Baehler and parents Wynema and Norman C. Cross, Jr. A celebration of Dub’s life is planned for April 6, 2013 in Strang, Oklahoma. Please share your memories of Dub with his family and friends at http://www.facebook.com/groups/289510374504607/ This obituary was published in the Tulsa World on 1/22/2013.

Suzie Curry

Birth Date: 1956-08-28
Deceased Date: 2016-03-10
Obituary:
"Sit long, talk much, laugh often"---those were the words that our dear Susie Curry lived by. Susie blessed this earth as an amazing mom, daughter, sister, friend, aunt, and co-worker. On March 10, 2016 she joined her earthly father, Bill, and our Heavenly Father in heaven. We are sad beyond words but gain strength knowing she would want us to live by her motto. Susie was brave to the end. She ran the good race. Susie was a passionate cyclist and took joy in riding the roads of California. She was in love with her work at IBM in which she put her everything into for 36 years. The best testament of her footprint in life were her children Julie and Jake Schreiner who stood by her side as she faced the inevitable conclusion of the disease that stole her from our physical presence. Susie will be greatly missed by her children, Julie and Jake, her mother, Shirley, sister, Debbie, brother, Greg, nieces, Kristen, Alanna, Sadie, and Reese, and nephew, Josh, along with the multitude of friends that stood by her side every step of her life. She will live forever in our hearts. Services will be held on Friday, March 18th at 1:30pm at St. Bernadine of Siena Church, 24410 Calvert St. Woodland Hills, CA 91367. In lieu of flowers, we would be thankful for donations to the CJD Foundation http://www.cjdfoundation.org/donate in hope to further the understanding and potential treatment of this devastating disease.
We leave you with her final words to her friends, "I lift my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Love to you my friends."
JUDY WORTHLEY OWEN - March 17th, 2016
I have known Susie since the 5th grade in Park Plaza neighborhood.  We grew up going to girl scouts and church.  She will be sorely missed.  I always loved catching up with her at the high school reunions.  She was one of a kind, and reunions will never be the same without her.  Loved her dearly. She was taken way to early from us.

Kenneth “Randy” Fleming entered this life on August 13, 1956 in San Antonio, Texas. He died in Coweta, Oklahoma on January 25, 2014. Randy graduated from Memorial High School. He was a jack of all trades, and worked in the printing industry until he began a life-long dream of working with heirloom plants. He had countless hobbies and passions.

Randy was an aggressive intellectual with a tenacious curiosity about the natural world. He was a true nature lover, and could be found on a hiking trail at any point during his 57 years on Earth. I've heard so many great things about Mrs. Hardin I feel like I know her.  My best friend is an artist who was inspired by Mrs. Hardin and has gone on to be extremely successfull. We have both searched endlessly for information to establish a picture memorial.  If anyone has information such as an obituary or newspaper articles please contact me at hiatthome@gmail.com.  God bless and be with the family, especially her children!
Dawn Van Hoose - Langridge - October 16th, 2013
I was oh so fortunate to have Mrs. (Goforth) Hardin as my Art teacher
from 1984 - 1986 while I was Union High School.  She was my rock and inspiration.  And, though I did not believe I had enough talent to pursue a career in art I did find a calling in teaching.  I work with high schoolers daily..helping them with Math and helping them not to give up just because it seems difficult.  I teach them to believe what is inside...just like she taught us.  I see her face every morning when I have my coffee...for my paintings and drawings that brought awards back in school now adorn my walls in my house...thank you Mrs. Hardin.  I hope you can see from where you are.....Thank you....Thank You.

The life of Jennifer Lea Holmes began on August 26, 1956 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the third child of Carlynne L. Holmes and Burt B. Holmes. She grew up walking the footbridge to Carnegie, then went on to Nimitz and graduated from Memorial High School. There, she discovered her knack for foreign language and began to master French. She was drawn to it by natural ability and in part, theatrics. Eventually, she trained her be’loved Newfoundland, Hannibal, to obey with French commands. After graduating from the University of Tulsa with a degree in communications and the homecoming crown, she moved to Los Angeles. She landed a job working on Mash and eventually earned a securities license and worked in banking. Following a brief move to New York, she moved back to Tulsa. She continued her education and became a nursing home administrator. She was gifted with a wild imagination, creativity and the ability to tell one heck of a story. When she finished no one was really sure if it actually did happen, but almost everyone could appreciate the passion with which it was told. She was an original and God broke the mold when she was born. She will be truly missed. Jennifer is survived by her parents, her siblings Jeff Holmes, Julia Holmes-Ange, Janice Chevaillier, Joan Stedman and her nieces and nephews.

Jen was a fun loving, grab-all-of-life person.  She had many adventures and regaled us with so many funny stories.  We were neighbors in elementary school, and lived together in college.  While we lived far away from one another for many years, we kept in touch, visited each other and had good laughs and memories. She had a huge heart and a deep love for animals.

I just learned today about Blythe's passing.  It's hard to imagine such a bright, beautiful person is gone.  I'm so sad to learn about her passing, and I know that many will miss her smile and gentle demeanor.

What an honor to say a few words about Kurt.  He was what every one of us boys at McClure Elementary back in the early 60s aspired to be:  athletic, funny, and irreverent.  I've known Kurt since preschool.  By Kindergarten he was commanding the class with his jokes and irresistable smile.   Sometime around 4th grade, Kurt bestowed nicknames upon all of us in our circle of friends around the tetherball pole.  Kenny Albright was "Kenny Copter", Matt Westfall was "Megan", and Kurt, supreme class clown, was "Bozo."  I was given the name "Billy Banana Boy" and for my 11th birthday I received a bunch of approx. 40 bananas, straight from the tree in the jungle.  During those years Kurt's dad was elected district judge: Judge Joe Jennings.  Kurt's #1 sidekick was always Burly White, his neighbor on 56th St and loyal friend.  Kurt and I were in a school play together at Nimitz, but drifted apart as we met new friends.  The last time I remember being with Kurt was at Memorial.  We attended the school musical, "Once Upon A Mattress" with Karen Yadon and Harold Sanditen in the lead roles - and we laughed and laughed.   Once again, in the presence of Bozo, I was having a wonderful time.  I've attached a photo from our preschool class at Betty Rowland Nursery School, approx. 1960-61.  Kurt is standing in the back center in the shiny shirt.  Thanks for the smiles, Bozo.

Fred was a wonderful gentle thoughtful man. He always made you feel that you were the most important person in the room. My sweet husband (Carlos) grew up with him, but I will cherish the adult years we had together, our children knew him as "Uncle Fred" and worshipped him. My fondest memories of "Uncle Fred" were the many times I would watch him reading to the children and sharing the many stories of he and thier daddy growing up with "Uncle Steve, Uncle Randy and Uncle Scot". My dear Fred you are missed and loved dearly. Vicki

Obituary:
Obituary for Mark Bradley Mindeman
Mark Bradley Mindeman passed away peacefully August 24, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. The son of Paul and Billie Mindeman, he was a kind and loving son, devoted father, grandfather and loyal friend to many.
Mark was born February 11, 1956 at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Perhaps this began his interest in the military history of the United States as well as foreign countries. He grew up in Tulsa along with Carnegie Elementary, Nimitz Junior High, and Memorial High School friends, who as of this day correspond and share their lives with one another. The next phase of his life was as an Oklahoma University graduate. Along the way he found lifelong friends of Delta Tau Delta fraternity: Brothers forever! In later years, he continued to be an avid OU football fan and inveterate "tailgate" host.
Mark was a Trust Officer with The Trust Company of Oklahoma and it was his dream to work alongside his father, Paul, its founder. His creativity led him to start his own company, Thunderbird Historical Miniatures. Over the years artists, historians, and dedicated friends have continued their love of military history through these figures. He was blessed with a beautiful baritone voice, a love of music, was an enthusiastic ukulele player, and had a great sense of humor. He also found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as, "G-Pa." His memory will live on with family and friends left behind.
Mark was preceded in death by his father and brother, Steve. He is survived by his mother, Billie, beautiful daughters Emily Collins, husband Ryan of Hurst, Texas, and Allison Lawson, husband Tyke of Tulsa, grandchildren Grace and Ross Collins, aunts Frances Maxwell and Joyce Mindeman of Tulsa, uncle James Blue, wife Margie of Palestine, Texas, and many wonderfully kind cousins

Ernest Moody

Deceased Date: 2013-02-17
Obituary:
Ernest Luther Moody III, 56, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013. He was born in Tulsa to Mildred and Ernest Moody II on February 24, 1956.

A 1979 graduate from Oklahoma State University, he studied business management and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Carrying on the tradition of his father, Ernest took over the family business at age 33 where he continued to lead with integrity and kindness. Throughout his life, he showcased his dedication and passion for the Tulsa community by actively contributing to various philanthropies and holding leadership roles in several associations including: Catholic Charities, American Heart Association, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Tulsa Executives Association (TEA) and the Young Presidents Organization (YPO).

Ernest not only worked hard, but also played hard. Constantly on the move, many say Ernest “lived more in his 56 years than most get to do in 106.” He loved adventure; a few of his favorites included skydiving over the Alps, catching a 7 ft sailfish in Mexico and driving a Formula 1 racecar. When Ernest wasn’t at work or with his family, he could usually be found fishing and boating at the lake.

Ernest was extremely loving and proud of his wife Rhonda Moody of Tulsa, daughter Melissa Moody of Fort Worth, stepson Jason Scott, Jason’s wife Teresa, and Jason’s son Chase all of Mannford, and stepson Brian Scott of Tulsa.

Ernest is survived by his immediate family mentioned above, his siblings Melinda Claiborne, Pat Kaltenbach, Emily Boyd and Kevin Moody of Tulsa, as well as several nieces and nephews: Audrey Johnson, Kyle Kaltenbach, Adam Kaltenbach, Ryan Claiborne, Alyson Kaltenbach, Andrew Kaltenbach, Megan Claiborne, and Michelle Moody. He also has many adoring extended family members and friends too numerous to count. He is preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Ernest Moody II, and nephew Tyler Moody.
Patricia Kaltenbach - October 5th, 2017
February 24, 1956 - February 17, 2013.

Ernest L Moody, III grew up in a loving family with 5 children.  He and his friends loved playing baseball in the large backyard/field, swimming and riding around their yard in the go cart that he and his father built.

He graduated from OSU in 1974 with a degree in Business Administration.  He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.  After gradualtion, he joined his family business where he worked along side his father, Ernest L Moody, Jr. learning all he could about the jewelry business.  Upon the unexpected death of his father in 1989, Ernest stepped into the position as President and CEO where he remained until his death in 2013.  He loved his job and excelled at it.  He was active in many local organizations including, Rotary, Tulsa Executives Association and Young Presidents Organization.

Ernest was an avid lake enthusiast and eventually bought a home on Grand Lake.  He loved boating and fishing and all things "lake".  The lake was his happy place where he would go to play and relax with family and friends.

Ernest was married to Rhonda and they had one daughter, Melissa.  He also raised his two step sons, Brian and Jason.  He loved his family and was proud of the adults they all became.

Ernest is greatly missed by the business world and by his family and friends!

Paulo Neiva

Bill Vaananen - July 27th, 2019
Paulo was a very special friend during high school at Memorial.  He was a very kind, funny, and a bit shy.  However, he was from Brazil so of course he loved and played soccer.  Memorial H.S. did not have any kind of soccer team, so Paulo and I played for a Tulsa area club team called the Tulsa Grasshoppers.  The club also had a separate adult men's team, so Paulo and other h.s. team members (including Jamey Langston, Mark Dickerson, Ken Steen, Joe Bartlett, Gerald Caterlin, and others) would often attend the parties thrown by these guys from many different nations.  Our h.s. club team would play against many college teams, including OSU, Northeastern Okla Univ., Southeastern Okla. U., OBU, St. Gregory's, Phillips, Altus Air base, and a team we usually demolished:  Holland Hall.  Paulo and I graduated together then went our separate ways.  I played soccer at Columbia College and developed a lifelong love of playing, coaching, and following futbol.  The last time I saw Paulo was at the 20 year reunion in '94.  We only spoke for a few minutes, but the mutual admiration and respect was still there.  Tonight I opened our TAPS yearbook from 1974, and saw Paulo's photo with his American brother Bobby Ess.  So, I tried to find him on the Internet and Facebook to connect with him again.  Sadly, I found on our Class of '74 page that Paulo had passed away.  No date was given.  I wish Paulo could have known that because of him, I developed a love for Brazilian culture and music - and their soccer of course.  In 2014, to celebrate the World Cup held in Brazil, I wrote and directed a show for my 5th grade students:  "Brasil:  Terra Magica" celebrating Paulo's homeland.  I'll always remember Paulo, my amigo, my teammate, who walked side by side with me into the arena of The Beautiful Game.   Bill Vaananen
