1956-09-15 2015-10-14
, Lisa Wall Dukes passed from this life on October 14, 2015 in Orlando, Florida after a four year struggle with cancer. She was 59 years old. Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Robert Browning Dukes, their two children of whom she was so proud, Ryan Browning Dukes and Melissa Lin Dukes, as well as her mother, Thelma Wall and brother, Steven Wall. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Wall. Born on the island of Oahu, Hawaii on September 15, 1956, Lisa's family moved several times between Texas and Oklahoma throughout her school years. She had a wonderful childhood and enjoyed the outdoors, swimming and riding horses. She graduated from Georgetown High School in Texas in 1974 and attended Oklahoma State University where she was happily involved with her sorority, Chi Omega. Following her graduation in 1978, she began her career in interior design in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lisa and Bob had known each other from Lisa's middle and early high school days in Tulsa and began dating several years after college when their paths crossed again at a football game tailgate. After a two year courtship, they married in 1985 and moved to Orlando in 1986 where they began their family a few years later. While taking on the demands of a mother, Lisa continued to exhibit the many facets of her passions and talents through her interior design business, Dukes Design Group. This past February, Bob and Lisa celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with their children and the many friends they had amassed over their 28 years in Orlando. Lisa loved her life, her family and her friends. She loved a good bike ride, trips to the beach and mountains along with time with her horses. She had a booming laugh that filled the room and brought smiles to everyone within earshot. She enjoyed working for a cause and found professional and many community positions including ASID, PTA Boards and President of the Edgewater High School Football Boosters. Her love of serving others and horses brought her to volunteer at Freedom Ride where she would later join the board of directors. She was a dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando where she served in multiple capacities. Her faith was the foundation of her life and she was a vessel of the Lord, touching countless lives around her. Of all the things Lisa did in this life, nothing compared to being with Bob and their children. She fought every day of the last four years to stay alive and be with them. The family would like to thank their many friends and family for their care and support in this battle, especially that group of close friends who became known as Lisa's Earthly Angels. Their dedication to "Team Lisa" greatly enriched her life and was a testament to the beautiful and wonderful person she was.
Lisa Lin-Forever in our hearts!
