Mark Mindeman
1956-02-11 2018-08-24Mark Bradley Mindeman passed away peacefully August 24, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. The son of Paul and Billie Mindeman, he was a kind and loving son, devoted father, grandfather and loyal friend to many.
Mark was born February 11, 1956 at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Perhaps this began his interest in the military history of the United States as well as foreign countries. He grew up in Tulsa along with Carnegie Elementary, Nimitz Junior High, and Memorial High School friends, who as of this day correspond and share their lives with one another. The next phase of his life was as an Oklahoma University graduate. Along the way he found lifelong friends of Delta Tau Delta fraternity: Brothers forever! In later years, he continued to be an avid OU football fan and inveterate "tailgate" host.
Mark was a Trust Officer with The Trust Company of Oklahoma and it was his dream to work alongside his father, Paul, its founder. His creativity led him to start his own company, Thunderbird Historical Miniatures. Over the years artists, historians, and dedicated friends have continued their love of military history through these figures. He was blessed with a beautiful baritone voice, a love of music, was an enthusiastic ukulele player, and had a great sense of humor. He also found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as, "G-Pa." His memory will live on with family and friends left behind.
Mark was preceded in death by his father and brother, Steve. He is survived by his mother, Billie, beautiful daughters Emily Collins, husband Ryan of Hurst, Texas, and Allison Lawson, husband Tyke of Tulsa, grandchildren Grace and Ross Collins, aunts Frances Maxwell and Joyce Mindeman of Tulsa, uncle James Blue, wife Margie of Palestine, Texas, and many wonderfully kind cousins
Mark was the first friend I ever had // we met in 1960 prior to enrolling with our parents at Betty Rowland nursery school in September 1960 // Time went by, we got reacquainted again In the mid-2000 teens and would go out to eat with Mark Meador & Ken Preaus // Ken and his family had a 60th birthday for me and invited nearly everyone I had ever know // there were several there that did know each other / however Mark made friends with everyone / I had met Bill Tim’s, class of 1973 / he played basketball for the Chargers // I didn’t know Bill, then, and had met him through the church that Ken and Paula go to // To my surprise, Mark remembered him from memorial / Mark was friends with everyone and it was easy to see why
