Obituary for James Richard Morey, Jr.
James Richard Morey, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
James was born on August 27, 1956 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Jim and Markeyta Morey. He grew up in Bartlesville until moving to Tulsa in 1970. He would call Tulsa his home for the remainder of his life. He proudly graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1978. While in Stillwater, he met the love of his life, Annette Cathleen (McKinney) Morey. Annette and James were married for 45 years and had three beautiful daughters- Lisa, Sarah, and Andrea.
James worked as a mechanical engineer, designing flight simulators for more than 40 years. He retired in 2021. In retirement, James and Annette enjoyed their time together working in their garden, surviving various home improvement projects, driving around Northeastern Oklahoma on their "day dates," and traveling to visit their beloved grandchildren- Dalton, Elliott, Hudson, and Grace.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Markeyta Morey. He is survived by his wife, Annette Morey of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Martha Schreiner (Neal) of Kansas City, Kansas; brother, Donnie Morey (Erick Breckenridge) of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Lisa Myers (Matt) of Littleton, Colorado; Sarah Taylor (Warren) of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Andrea Morey of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, James Dalton and Elliott Myers, and Hudson and Grace Taylor; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
James will always be remembered for his charismatic smile, his joy for the little things in life, his ability to fix anything, his frequent corny jokes, his enthusiasm for the St. Louis Cardinals and all Oklahoma State athletics, his eternal optimism, his heart for music and his love for his family.
A service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 1:00pm at First Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
